Poodle (Miniature) (short coat) Dog

Harriet the Dog needs a home

Harriet is the kind of girl who just wants to be by your side. While she likes to be near her people, and often hangs out right by their feet, she needs them to understand that she doesn't really like to be touched. She is shy and fearful and will try to run and hide when frightened if she can. If she feels cornered, she will go to the bathroom out of fear, and she may also bite. However, if you have patience and go at her pace she will let you clean her face, put a harness on her, etc. Her curly coat does need regular grooming, and that is best done by someone who has a good and trusting relationship with her.Born in 2010, Harriet came to Best Friends from a shelter with a serious leg injury. She is now a three-legged girl, but that's not an issue for her at all. She has no interest in toys, but she loves to roll in the grass and will need a fenced yard. Harriet also loves food, treats, her crate and other dogs. She's housetrained and has been fine with cats.Harriet does best when she follows a routine. She does show excitement and tends to bark a lot when she is very happy (usually at feeding time or when she's going outside with other dogs). Her ideal home will have other dogs who are gentle companions to her. Her ideal person will be someone who is very patient as well as experienced with very shy/semi-feral dogs. Harriet won't ever be " normal? or a " cuddly? dog, but she is very deserving of love and is willing to love in return.
